First of all, congratulations to my very talented Newhouse colleagues who were awarded much-deserved grants this weekend. Because the official announcement of winners isn't until March 1, I won't publish your names here. Suffice to say, I'm so excited to see you both continue to develop your very important projects.
This weekend was an amazing opportunity to gain insight from the judges and from everyone who submitted their entries from around the world. We were inundated with high level visual storytelling, and it was glorious. Having my portfolio reviewed by Pulitzer Prize winner John Moore and National Geographic legend Lynn Johnson was certainly a highlight.
Their compliments were uplifting, but I'm most grateful for their constructive criticism. I came out of this weekend with a galvanized commitment to create stronger long-term work, photograph more thoughtfully and produce cleaner frames.
